Subject: Increasing Effectiveness of Studying on Campus

Dear Dean’s Office Committee Members:

My name is Andrew Seibert, and I am currently a junior studying Agriculture Economics here at Purdue. I am writing to address the issue of studying on campus. To enhance the experience of studying on campus, there needs to be dedicated rooms in all of the buildings. Currently, there are a few areas that serve this purpose.

The rooms would need to be setup for studying with tables and chairs or desks to work at. Because these spaces would be dedicated to studying, there would need to be rules, so they did not become social gathering places, but at the same time, talking cannot be eliminated because these study rooms should facilitate students teaching students. I know that space for these would be limited because most rooms on campus are used to their fullest extent as it is. I appreciate you taking my thoughts into consideration.

Sincerely,
Andrew Seibert

Subject: Increasing Effectiveness of Studying on Campus

Dear President Van Houten:

Being a student yourself, you know that to be successful here at Purdue, you need a good place to study. Currently, there are a few rooms on campus that serve this purpose, but there needs to be more of these rooms.

These rooms would need to have desks or tables and chairs to facilitate studying. There would need to be rules so the rooms do not become social hangouts. Talking would need to be somewhat limited but allowed because they should encourage students to help each other. The space on campus is limited, but it could be worked out through space management. Thank you for taking my thoughts into consideration.

Sincerely,
Andrew Seibert

To prepare these e-mails, I used some of the information about context from Chapter 1, and then after my thoughts were collected, I used Chapter 27 to make the e-mail was prepared properly.

I agree with what Andrew

I agree with what Andrew said about the study rooms. It would be nice to have rules that everyone could follow by. With this plan students will be less distracted by noises and can focus more on their studies. Good job on identifying the problem and suggesting a solution for it.

Would new rooms make a difference?

I like the idea of making new rooms for studying however, I have to wonder if this would change anything from our current situation. The places designated for studying and doing work on campus at this point are not supposed to be social hangouts, but they have become that anyways.

Agreed

I agree that rooms should be available in all buildings on campus. This would make studying a whole lot easier for everyone, and more convenient.
