Some activities that can fulfill the "outside assignment" component of the syllabus. (More will be added as the semester goes on.)

1)The Writing Lab is hosting a workshop on beginning the writing process and
planning your writing. It will be a very useful workshop for writers at every
level, but it might be particularly useful for your English 106 students. As
usual, the workshop is free and open to everyone. Please encourage your students to come, and maybe even drop in yourself.
