I remember when I took Com 114, we briefly went over the Ethos, Logos and Pathos theory. The idea was to gain a knowledge of speaking so that when we gave speeches, we would perform them well. It was taught to us so that we would learn to speak from the heart and make it as if we believed what we were saying. The reading tells much of the same things.

similarities

I find it interesting how Ethos, Logos, and Pathos are useful in all types of mediums. The medium is just how you try to get accross Logos, Pathos, and Ethos.

Yea...we only went over it

Yea...we only went over it breifly in my Com 114 class too. I don't really remember learning it, but I think my instructor covered it. I really liked how you said the purpose of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos is to "speak from the heart and make it as if we believed what we are saying" because that is exactly it! It's kind of like acting to me. You prepare for the speach, figure out all the little details (like when you will emphisize words, or when to use hand gestures) and then you perform to entertain your audience.
