I thought that the first reading in the book made a subtle point to how we should make our writings. I think that it meant that we should make our writings so that the reader can make an image of what is being said. The more something is made to be seen by the reader in their mind, the more easily it can be understood. I think this is what novelists convey. The paintings and pictures explained in the reading give what the book referred to as composition which I thought was interesting. I saw it was neat how the book related art to reading and writing.

first reading assignment
At first I thought the assignment was going to be incredibly boring, but then it got much more interesting. I have taken multiple photography classes in high school but it was nice to see how that same image could be portrayed through writing. An essay can also bring about a specific image to a persons mind.
I thought that seeing the pictures and different views of the art was really neat. For instance the Mona Lisa one where there was a lot of people crowding the case, I have never thought of it like that before. I also like the picture of the little girl in the red coat while everything else was black and white. It helped capture your attention to her and create a feeling within the photograph. Overall I thought the reading was interesting and beneficial to us as writers.
