English106-01-03 Introductory Composition

I observed that Terry is relating incidents in her story to her own life. In the first chapter “The burrowing owls” she describes an owl that burrowed into the sand and stayed in the warm darkness of the burrow, I think she is comparing that owl’s closed burrow to show us how she has locked her past away. In the beginning of the story she mentions “The bear river migratory bird refuge, devastated by the flood, now begins to heal.
