Team 13 Week 6

Team 13, work blog #1

So far we've come up with the topic of "the importance of setting up a good training program". This was our original topic. At first we had only two team members and ended up join another team with only two members. Although they had already decided on their topic, we ended up deciding to do this topic. Ive done alot of research on this topic and the sources come from a textbook from one of my previous classes called Employee training and development, and www.humanresources.com.

Our group has had quite a time just coming up with a proposal for a project. At first, I started off in a group with just one other person, and her and I were going to do our project on the shortcomings of the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill in Congress that is attempting to permanently close the wage gap between men and women. After doing more research though, it turns out that when you account for all the factors for why a woman may make less than a man in her lifetime, there really is no huge pay gap - only about 2 or 3 percent.

So far in my research for the topic of “the importance of setting up a good training program” I have 3 different sources. The sources are:
The textbook Employee training and development by Raymond Noe-This a book that focuses on nothing but employee training and so far is the best source I’ve been able to find that relates to this topic. In one chapter I read it gave information on how to tailor training methods to different age groups and another explained how to evaluate your training program.
