ENGL 420: Business Writing

So far our group has been working very well together. We have made good progress on this project and we have also been meeting frequently. In previous group projects I always had trouble getting my group together, but everyone in this group seems willing to meet and actually gets work done. We have been trying to get as much work done in class and right after class as possible. We have had to meet outside of class a few times, but most work has been completed individually through e-mail or in the hour following our class time.

This week I typed the revisions our group came up with for our memo handed in on Wednesday. I also helped type up some of our outline, primarily with regard to the executive summary. I have not started typing up the actual white paper, though I am preparing to begin sometime this weekend by finishing up the research for my section. I can start writing the rest of the paper after I receive the research from my other group members. I still need to go over the division of writing with David so we know who is responsible for which sections of the white paper.

This week our group met during class and after class. The task on hand for this week was to determine who would be researching, writing, designing and editing. We met Thursday night from 9pm till about 11:15pm in the HICKS undergraduate library. Nicole, Chris, and I were present. David was absent because of a family emergency. David however submitted his research on the topic via email, and this research proved to be very beneficial for our outline, especially solution #3. David and Chris will be writing. Nicole and I are to edit. All four members will research and design the project.

We are currently working on creating an extremely detailed outline, because its due friday, but also so that actually writing of the white paper will be quicker and easier. Most of our communication has been through e-mails and class time, but we have also met outside of class and are planning to do so again. After the memo, we have mostly been doing individual research. At our second meeting is where we plan to tie all of the information together. The hardest part has been trying to plan around everyone's schedules.
