ENGL 420: Business Writing

I have had a couple problems posting this blog. I might have not tagged it correctly or I have had some computer issues but for some reason it did not want to post. Hopefully this time it will work. I think that we are working well as a group and everything is on schedule. We had no problem finishing our outline on time. One issue came up was that Cedric was originally supposed to edit the final outline but he could not gain access to the google documents website. This did not cause any problems whatsoever since I just told him to email me his part and I would do the editing.

I think that as a whole, our group is moving along according to schedule. We have encountered a few problems, but we have been able to communicate and work out the issues with ease. For example, I was in charge of editing the whole outline through Google docs last night. I was not able to open any of the outline through this webpage, so I contacted Filip, I let him know about the situation, and I emailed him my portion of the outline and he took care of the rest. We are definitely doing a nice job of looking out for the best interest of the group.

This week we were working to finish our proposal that was due Monday and our outline that is due on Friday. When we meet on Sunday night, we rethought up our whole project and came up with a new proposal that was more specific. During our meeting we also assigned our roles in the group and also our responsibilities. I feel that we split the work fairly evenly amongst ourselves making sure not one person is doing a majority of the work. I will be writing about the problem and its background while the rest of the group will be writing about the solutions.

Our group has been getting along great, and I think we have been communicating and sharing our ideas well. We had to completely overhaul the direction of our paper on Sunday night, which took a lot of discussion and thought. We are now on a better track than we were before, and I think we’ll have a great paper in the end. As far as being a good team member, I think I’ve been doing fine but I know I’m going to put my group out a little bit because I’ll be gone for our Friday and Monday class.

This week my group and I established who would be responsible for different aspects of the white paper project. My portion of the project includes discussing the problems with the requirements of air traffic controllers and how they can be changed to allow for the current work force to increase. This may be a difficult part of the project because I feel like it will be hard to argue with some of the requirements for the career. Much of this week I am dedicating to finding the correct ways to improve the system.
