ENGL 420: Business Writing

This week was very productive for my group. We decided to split the work up evenly for our outline and it worked out very well. Each person was given a particular topic and they need to write several paragraphs about that topic. Jess then took all of the paragraphs and made them into a very detailed outline. This also worked out well because it allowed our group to get a jump start on making our rough draft. I really feel that this paper is coming together well, and that the rough draft should not even be a problem for Friday’s class.

Our team has met and created a detailed outline for our project. I looked up information on the problem, and the other three group members researched one solution each. This allowed us to be detailed and not get burnt out on finding information. We have met once a week in the evening, hold discussions after class, and interact via email and Google Docs. We feel that we are going to be able to write our White Paper from the detailed outline and that will also allow us to have uniform paper written by four people. We also assigned jobs for our team and created a contract that we all agree on.

This week we divided up our work and it is my job to keep us in line. I'll be setting deadlines and planning when and where we'll get together. We are collaboratively doing the writing and editing. When doing the outline we decided to split it up. We each took a solution and Jessie took the problem and then all of our work was combined. I am very pleased at how our outline turned out. I was worried about having enough to work on and write about but now that I've seen our outline I can tell that we will have more than enough information to make our point.

So far our group is working well together. We have distributed parts as to who is writing which part of the paper and then we will collaborate about it later. I have been assigned to do research and my part of the outline on hybrid cars. I have finished this and our outline will be done by Friday. With the outline done, I think we will be able easily put our rough draft together for next Friday. Our group meetings have been constructive and have so far been every Wed at 6 or 7pm. So far so good for this group!
