ENGL 420: Business Writing

This week we created a contract to assign roles for each member. We divided up responsibilities for our white paper project. Research and writing topics were distributed among members. I will be responsible for doing research on what specific things are keeping kids from doing drugs. We also divided up sections for the actual writing. Here, I am going to be working on the solutions portion of the paper. Soon we will all have our portions done, come together and create our final paper.

Our group is doing fine. We have broken up the research and paper writing area's, and research is currently being finished up (it was supposed to be due today, but I found a source that is threatening to shake up our solutions and audience, so we decided to hold off until Monday for the research to be due). We have an outline, which may or may not change after our meeting today. We have not met this week, we will be today, but most of our communication is via e-mail. Currently, I am researching the peak developmental ages for a child, Kerry is researching D.A.R.E.

Early on Michael created an outline that has enabled us to think in a more orderly fashion. It has helped us to change some direction and think about where to go next. He also created our contract that all members willing agreed to adhere. It seems that we are staying on task and working out problems that have presented some challenges.
I was able to speak to a D.A.R.E officer on Wednesday and gather more information. I also made an appointment with him and was able to meet with him. He provided me with more information and a copy of the 5th grade curriculum.

The white paper project has been progressing smoothly and on schedule. We ran into a slight bump while trying to find sufficient research for different aspects of our solutions. To fix this, we plan to revise small portions of the solutions to better fit our research about the D.A.R.E. program.

This week, we drafted a contract distributing tasks for each group member. I have been assigned to the “Problem” section of our white paper. We then revised and updated our first outline to reflect our newly discovered research and our latest ideas.
