Cover Letter

My cover letter will be different from my resume because it won't cover quite as much. I will take the most important factors from my resume and highlight those. I will also add more detail to what I know will be important to my employer.
Outstanding 4-Her may not look particularly impressive to just anyone but to these people it raises a 'green' flag. It shows hard work and heavy involvement in Purdue's programs and for this internship in particular it has a lot of weight.

Cover letter

Working on this project has actually taught me a lot of new ideas - even if secretly I felt this wasn't going to be ... too exciting. I have found the cover letter to be a challenge. It is easy to write the letter like I'm sending it to a friend. Rather, I should look think of this unknown person as a cynic who doesn't want to give me the time of day. After the revisions and peer review I feel confident my project will turn out well.

My cover letter will vary from my resume in many ways. The cover letter puts a person and a value to your resume. Your resume is simply what you’ve done where as your cover letter is who you are and what you are like. In my cover letter I will stress what exactly I can bring to the company that I am applying to and it will allow me to go into further detail on what the experiences in my resume actually mean. Particularly, I focused on my position at Pick-A-Tool. I will explain in more detail what I do at Pick-A-Tool and how it relates to the position at ALDI.

Before reading the articles on cover letters this week and having to write my own I had never really thought much about them. I had never included a cover letter along with my resume when applying to previous jobs. However, after reading this weeks' articles I discovered the importance and professionalism of the cover letter. As I sat down to write my own I found it incredibly difficult to not simply include the information in my resume. I realized a cover letter was a chance to explain the classes and skills I have that would make me a great asset to the company.

It is hard to write a cover letter that is informative to the reader, but is not redundant and has the same information as your resume. In my cover letter, I will explain in greater detail a couple points on my resume and relate myself to the company and position that I am applying for. I can go into greater detail about my previous work experience and explain how the experience gained there relates to the exact position I am apply for. Also, I will be able to show how the skills I have gained will transfer and be useful if I get the job.

My cover letters

My cover letter will be different than my resume because I will go into greater detail explaining my work experiences. I want the employer to read my cover letter and think, "Wow, this kid can do it all. He has done most of it. He is exactly what we are looking for." One specific thing I will put in there is that I worked on a Bovis job when I was in high school. I know how Bovis runs thier jobs and I will be able to do the same thing.

My resume and cover letter will have some similarities and some differences. My resume will mention all my work experience and education. In my cover letter I will attempt to point out more of my skills. The cover letter will also state why I am interested in the particular job and why I believe I will be a good candidate. My cover letter will definitely more guided towards a particular audience. I hope both my cover letter and resume will help me get a great job.

Cover Letter Difference

The difference between my cover letter and my resume will be that my resume will focus mainly on my previous experiences to "wow" the employer in that aspect. The cover letter, however, will discuss how I will be good for this position because of my work experience, but also I will discuss my personal attributes. It will also be specific to the employer. In the letter, I will tell them a little background info about how I came across the job and my interest in it. I will then move to why I am good for that position and what I could do for the success of their company.

Week 4

In my cover letter I hope to emphasize many of my soft skills and some specific examples of how I have used my accounting skills and soft skills in the workplace. This way on my resume I can emphasize the exact factual information on my past work experience, but in the cover letter I can make it more personal and more tailored to why these skills have developed me into the exact person they are looking for. Some of the specific examples I will hope to bring up are my Eagle Scout project and the leadership skills it took to carry out that project.

Resume vs. Cover Letter: An Epic Battle

Resume took a few hard blows from the class and our readings, but turned out pretty damn good (I think so at least). Then Cover Letter came in to battle. Cover Letter was a young pup to the ring, but he was confident he could hold his weight. Shortly into the round, Cover Letter found himself just taking everything Resume had thrown at him and dishing it right back. If this was going to be Cover Letter's plan of attack he would be certainly lose the battle.
