After reading the resume extravaganza document, i decided that i would much rather prefer the format of pages 1, 8, 9, 22, and 20. i picked these resumes for an interview becuase the content was direct and straight to the point. The resumes were not too long and they stood out above the rest of the resumes.

I must not have submitted this during class so now I have to do it again I apologize if my results changed or are much shorter.

page 1: No GPA listed but mounds of experience and an easy to read guide.
page 9: The relevant important entries were bolded and it had remarkable experience
page 22: It was very easy to read and had equal spacing between white and ink. The bullets were a little too long though.
page 29: It was well-presented and had good experience.
page 32: She used the 3 bullet rule well, and had clear easy to skim formatting

I selected numbers: 5, 8, 9, 10, and 32. There wasn’t really anything that I looked for that lead me to the resumes I chose. My decision was more of a process of elimination, and the five listed earlier are the examples that have the least amount of problems. The resumes that I cut were unattractive for multiple reasons which include: a nonspecific objective, references that were previous bosses, unbalanced format, “hyperlinked” email addresses, poor contact information, too much bold/italics, multiple points and fonts. Resumes 5, 8, 9, 10, 32 did have some shortcomings.

After viewing the Resume Extravaganza document, I realized that the format, organization, and design of a resume greatly influence the employer’s impression of the applicant. If the resume is too crammed and difficult to read, a busy, successful executive will most likely not want to waste his or her time trying to decipher it. Also, typos and unorganized formats will place a resume at the bottom of the pile, if not the trashcan. The five resumes that I selected to call for an interview are on pages 8, 9, 22, 26, and 32.

I would definitely call Olivia Nancy Bryant for an interview, if I were a hirer for Pfizer. Her resume stood out to me because her objective was clear and precise, and her related experience and education were outstanding. Her resume was on page 9. I would also call Joe W. Roberts for an interview. His resume was on page 20, and what stood out for Joe was his related experience. Also, I liked the format of this resume, with the information on the left margin, and the dates on the right margin. I would also call Mary A. Smith, on page 22 for an interview.

This is a listing of the resumes that stood out to me on the resume extravaganza.
#1This applicant was applying to be a groundskeeper for a baseball team and had a ton of relevant experience. He’s done things to take care of different courses, trained other people, and has experience in repairing equipment. I think he would be a great addition.

#8 This person was applying to be a medical technician and had a very good resume layout that made all the relevant information clear

After evaluating all thirty-four resumes from the resume extravaganza, I found myself looking for some very specific things in all of the resumes. The first thing I analyzed was the objective in each resume. I expected each resume to have a very detailed, company-specific objective, since I feel that the objective of every resume should cause the reader to WANT to read on to find out more about the applicant.

After reading all of the resumes the ones that stood out the most can be found on pages 1, 4, 9 12, and 20. One of the most obvious items on the resume that I noticed first was content and formating. Some of the resumes just did not have enough information on the page and left too much blank space. On the other hand, some people tried too hard to fill the page and there was too much writing to read in the twenty seconds I had to look over them. Even though some of them had very good content, I noticed that I was skipping over the long resumes for the sake of time.

The people I would chose to hire based of the resumes we read in class are resume numbers 2, 5, 21, 26 and 32. These all stood out above the rest based on a number of things, including balance, content, and being visually pleasing. I noticed while I was reading the resumes that I would look for a GPA near the education section. If it wasn’t there, I assumed it was too low and the applicant didn’t want to report a low GPA. This automatically made me think lower of the resume than even if I had seen a 3.1 GPA or something of the sort.
