Week 13

Service Learning Project Week 13

Our meeting from last week with our contact person was canceled but we were able to meet with her today. We showed Janet Shepherd our proposal and discussed what was in it. We talked about the main topics involved within each brochure. She agreed with us about how important the issues we want to discuss within the brochures. Within each brochure we will be talking about basic facts and statistics of alcohol, marijuana, and tobacco. Then also we will include warning signs and how to start a positive conversation with the parents' children.

Service Learning Project

This week as a group, we created our proposal. We also decided individual responsiblities. We are creating 4 brochures on different topics for the D.A.R.E. program. We are all going to create our own brochure by this Wednesday. We had scheduled a meeting with the D.A.R.E. police officer, Janet Shepherd, for Friday morning. However, something came up and she needed to reschedule. So we are now planning on meeting with her Tuesday morning. We hope to show her our proposal and share more of our ideas with her.

Group 2, Week 13: Proposal accepted for class and client

All systems go!

Finally Rolling

Our group has finally got the ball rolling. We are working for vision of hope and have had all of our criteria laid out for us so far and we are now in the process of putting everything together. This week we delegated the responsibilities to all of the group members. Michael and Josh are working on the words that go into the brochure while Kimberly and Derek are working on the design of the brochure and how all of the elements are put together. We have only had a few minor problems so far.

Weeks progress- Group 7

This week ended up to be a good one, much was accomplished. To start off with we where unsure if we would be able to get our proposal in on time because of our schedules not lining up with the blood centers. We were however able to meet with them briefly and turn in our proposal. This week we where able to meet with the a second time as well. In our two meetings we sat down and discussed a few different things. The first thing we talked about was if the blood center had any form of marketing. They said that the did have events that they promoted, but could us some help.

Service Learning Project -- Week 13

We have been planning our layout for the brochure. We are currently focusing on creating a 3-fold brochure with printing on both the front and back sides of the paper giving us six columns. We will have one column for an introduction to Von's Shops, four columns describing the four different sections of Von's shops: books, jewelry, music, and movies, and one column for a conclusion leaving the reader with a desire to check Von's Shops out. We are currently choosing a background style for the pamphlet and will finish drafting the content this weekend.

Group #4 Blog Update 3

Our work with Cafe Royal is progressing along at a fine rate. This past week has been productive with the production of a proposal and a meeting with the client. The proposal was created and submitted for review on Monday. After review the proposal was given back and turned out to be missing some key information, such as contact information and a few design details. The revisions were made, and the proposal was approved on Wednesday. Later that day was the meeting with the client to present the proposal and work out a few more details.

Weekly Project Post #3: Group 5

This week we have been really successful on our service learning project. At the beginning of the week we delivered the proposal to our client. Our client accepted the proposal we wrote for him. This helped us give the go ahead on starting the rough draft of our brochure. We met on Tuesday, April 8th to brainstorm what we wanted in the brochure and how we wanted it to look. In class on Wednesday we discussed when we were going to meet again to work on the final draft. We decided to meet Friday around 3 o’clock at Hicks to work on our rough draft.

Group 8 Project Log: Delivering Proposal

This week has been pretty busy with just trying to contact our client to set up the meeting to deliver our proposal to him. The only time we met this week was today, in which we ended up showing our client the proposal and changing a few things. Other than that, we are just preparing to create our rough draft for the documents we plan to make. Justin Tokarczyk got a chance to e-mail the Purdue student radio station (1610AM) to see if they could put out a public service announcement, and they e-mailed him back saying that they would have no problem doing that for us.

Team 10 Project Log: Delivering the Proposal

This week our group, 10, met with Ms. Stirratt and delivered our proposal to her. After looking over our proposal, and us giving her a brief walk through it in addition to her reading it, she accepted. She thinks that our idea will really work and that it is very beneficial, not only to her, but the entire Boiler Blast team. We discussed what would be done during our time working with her and she agreed with our proposal of four specifically written letters to the major businesses in the Lafayette and West Lafayette area.
