Week 12

Service Learning - Team Blog

This week was very difficult for our group because we had a hard time getting a client. We secured our client (the Lafayette Urban Ministry) Wednesday evening, but up until then, we were still wondering if we would have one. Our first meeting with the client is today.

Group 7 Week 12

This week, we started off going very efficiently with our project, deciding to work with the Indiana Blood Ceneter after having some rough times with our proposal logistics last week. Our ideas about helping them to market to blood donors and monetary donations went smoothly. We managed to contact them by phone and they notified us that we would be working with their marketing department.

Group 11 - Securing the Client

Our work on the third project this week was a little scattered, to say the least. At the beginning of the week, we were still not sure of our client. It wasn’t until Wednesday that we finally had our client secured, and we then had the task of figuring out a time to meet up with them. Our client is Greater Lafayette Recreational Soccer Association. Because the week was drawing to a close, we weren’t able to find a time to all meet with the client. Instead, on Thursday night at 8:20pm, Cedric and I (Lauren) went to meet them.

Reading Response week 12

This weeks reading though length and difficult to see, was very useful. It provided several details that are necessary to consider when creating proposals. Although it reinforced the idea that it's important to be brief it also explained how being simple really works. I had never really given thought to all the slogans used today and their incorrect usage but it really drove the point home.

Team#4 Work Blog: Week 12

At the beginning of this project we were going to do Big Brothers Big Sisters or Habitat for Humanity. We were thinking about making a broacher for them so more people would know about it and could get involved. After discussing how it wasn’t going to work we came up with a new topic to do a flyer for Café Royale. It’s located on the corner of Northwestern and Stadium and have extended hours during finals week. After running it by out teacher to see if he approved we got straight to work.

Week 12 Project Log - Group 10

This week provided a major challenge for our group. We were planning to do our on project for The Candy Bar in Chauncey Hill, but as the teacher said in class we needed to make sure that the client was going to work for us just as we are going to be working for them. The Candy Bar was the main company that we were focusing on, so we scheduled our first meeting during class time on Wednesday. We arrived at The Candy Bar at 10 o’clock, which is the time it is suppose to open, and no one was at the business.

Team #2: Work Blog Week 12

This week, our group met with the client for the first time. It was a relatively informal meeting where we all sat down to discuss exactly what the project would entail. This summer, our client will be opening up a coffee shop. As a result, they will need training material for their new employees on how to safely handle food and keep the work place sanitary. As such, our group will be responsible for a few pages out of a their employee training handbook.

Group 8: The Interview Is Complete

Since last week we have met three times. The first meeting was to contact the Immediate Task President of The Banks of the Wabash to insure we could collaborate with them for our project. He was very excited about working with us on the project.

Team 5 Project Blog Week 12 - Met the Client

On Monday, we made our first contact with our number one choice for a client. This person is Joel Zarate, the recycling coordinator here at Purdue. He replied to our email extremely fast, and we set up a meeting with him for Wednesday, April 2 at 12:30 at Starbucks in the Union. We had come prepared with questions to ask him and ideas we had for the project. Our idea was creating a brochure that would help educate students about the recycling program here at Purdue. Mr. Zarate had the same idea.

Project Blog Week 12: Team 1

This week our project to beginning to take shape and we have already completed the two page proposal. Today we had a meeting out of class to discuss the division of labor and set up a gannt chart. After successfully completing a gannt chart for our project our team has become aware of the short amount of time we have to complete this project. We plan to stay slightly ahead of our class deadlines so there is ample time for our client to approve our brochure. Overall, our team is looking forward to the final product with very high expectations of ourselves.
