Week 11

Project Log for Week 11: Meeting with Non-Profit

This week we are in the early stages of the project. Today at 12pm, we will meet with Vison of Hope and have a tour of the facility. This non-profit is a facility for women who need help and wish to do so in a Chrisitian enviroment. Michael contacted the organization and Josh and myself will be going with him to sit down and discuss what the organization needs. We plan to go over future plans after the weekend.

Project Log for Week 11: Project 3 in the Beginning (Group 2)

For our Client Based Project, we have decided to keep the same group as we had for the White Paper Project. We had a lot of success with our last project when we worked together, so there is no reason why we should change the group around.

We started out the week by looking at each one of our client ideas blog posts. All of us had different and unique clients, but only one of them stood out. The new coffee shop, Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co., seemed like an ideal client. After discussing the possibility of this company as our client, it was time to write the memo.

Project Log Week 11: Group 12

After successfully completing the White Paper Project, our group, Adam Corbin, Chris Miller, Nicole Sobkowiak, and David Bruot decided to remain together for the third and final project. This week most of our efforts were focused on finding potential clients to work with during this project. We decided that the three companies that we would most like to work with (starting with our first choice) are Friends of Bob, Von’s Shops, and Urban Ministry of Lafayette. After selecting our three potential companies, we needed to create a memo addressed to Mr.

Project 3 - Group 11

This week was the first week of project three, the client based service learning project. My team from the white paper decided to stay together to work on the last project, which makes it easier to get things started. Also, we worked really well together on the white paper and already know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and are comfortable working together. Since we already have all of the “getting to know each other” of group formation out of the way, we were able to get right into working on the project.

Project 3 Group Log 1: Team 4

At this point in time our project is clearly in the very early stages of development. All we have done so far is turn in our three topic suggestions and have gotten the go ahead on two of them. Next week I'm sure we will begin to make contact with the Habitat for Humanity, and if they don't work out we can fall back on the Big Brother's and Sister's program. This week our group only met in class, and sent eachother's topic suggestions to me by Tuesday night so that I could put together the memo for wednesday.

Project Three: The Start for Group 13!

So far we have decided as a group to keep it as John, Justin and I. We did a great job of working together as a group for our white paper and we feel that we can do a good job of completing this service learning project. We have just completed the memo on Tuesday night. We actually discussed who we were going to target as our three main groups, and how we were going to do that on Monday during class time and John decided to put our ideas together into the memo.

Weekly Project Post #1: Group 5

As a group, we have decided to continue our topic on Purdue’s recycling inefficiencies. This topic is already very familiar to us, and we are comfortable working together. This week of the project has been kind of slow due to the class cancelations, so we would estimate our current project status is still in the drafting stage. However, because we have much of the needed information regarding recycling at Purdue, we will begin speaking with the representatives at the Purdue Grounds Department in the near future (Week 12).

Project Log for Week 11: Project 3 Begins

We easily came up with three very possible choices for this project. The one that we have temporarily chosen and you appoved is The Candy Bar. Our group is trying to find a time to go and talk to the owners about things we could help them with. Our initial ideas are to either make brochures or fliers to increase the knowledge of The Candy Bar around Purdue's campus. We believe The Candy Bar is a great choice for this project because it fits all of the criteria and we believe we could actually help their business through our work on this project.

Service Learning Project Log: Group 8

For this project, we kept our same group: Justin T., Steve, Nate, and Justin H. We have a few different clients in mind that we would like to work with, but it seems that it has came down to Banks of The Wabash, Inc. and Goodwill, Inc. On Tuesday, March 25 at 5:00PM, our group met up to write our memo that we e-mailed to the teacher. I feel that our memo was very descriptive on what we would like to accomplish, and we hope that our plans get approved. Everyone worked equally in our group in order to complete this memo.
