The reading this week was all in preparation for our final group project, which involves creating written materials in a client-based fashion. The guidelines seem to be very demanding and yet, at this time they are still very open-ended. I am ready to get further along in the client selection process so we can further develop our ideas and plan, so we have more well-defined goals which we can work toward accomplishing.

Because our objective is really to meet the needs of our client and up-hold professional writing standards in the completion of our product, we need to choose and speak with our client before moving on. I am excited that this is our goal because this assignment seems to really have a purpose. I am motivated to complete a task well and efficiently when I know it will really help someone out, and this project has that potential.

One potential client my team and I have discussed really offers this opportunity. There will be a new coffee shop opening in the Chauncey area on the first of July. The coffee shop, Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co., is a brand new, independent endeavor, which is to be run by a Purdue alum from the HTM department. Our project offers the potential to help him out a great deal, as he is in the process of putting together all sorts of professional documents which will be used to organize his business and train his employees, as well as to inform the public. It would be an awesome opportunity to get involved with a local business which is starting up, and help them out a great deal by exercising our newly-acquired skills in professional writing.

With my understanding of the guidelines and the bare bones of an expected time line, I feel that my group has the information and direction to move on with the memo and further to the proposal in a timely fashion.
