The two clients I’m considering so far are Borders Books or for the co-rec. The project for Borders would essentially be a marketing campaign to get readers from all levels, especially college age, into the store to increase their reading of books. The reason why I think this might be a good project is because a lot of college students I’ve noticed are usually so busy reading textbooks and doing projects, that they rarely have time to read. Even those who do have time to read would rather use that time to watch t.v., play videogames, or go to the bars. This project would essentially be a way of reigniting the passion of reading for fun in various generations and hopefully get them out of the previously mentioned habits. This doesn’t necessarily have to be just for Borders but I chose that because it’s close to campus and they have a wide variety of books that I think college students would be interested in. The documents would consist of emailing students, creating flyers and pamphlets, and writing and recording market segment information. The other client I’d like to do is for the co-rec. The co-rec holds events every other Friday that are designed to let students have fun without resorting to drinking at bars or other events. According to someone I know who works there however, a lot of times these events aren’t as successful as they could be. When I asked him why he said it may partly be because of poor marketing on their part or maybe not advertising the events in a way that would grab students attention. Our groups job for the co-rec would be to survey students to figure out what’s wrong with the ads and use this info to figure out a way that would help them make their ads more interesting in the future. In addition to finding this information, we would also be creating new ads for their upcoming events over the next few weeks so it wouldn’t be a one-time thing.
