For this weeks reading journal I have read following section on Proposals in PWOnline: Overview, The Rhetoric of Proposals, Types and Contexts of Proposals,Content and Organization, Proposal: Biomedical Engineering Design Project. The Overview section basically defines the term "proposal." The PWOnline refers to a formal document which proposes to do some project in the future and which requests organizational support for doing the project. Proposals are generally persuasive documents. Fundamentally, your proposal is persuasive if it can convince the reader: That there is a significant problem or need. That you have a method and a plan for addressing that problem or need. That you have the ability to manage the project successfully. That you are qualified to do the work. That the cost of the project is justified in terms of its likely results. I found it interesting to read that your proposal must address the interested but skeptical reader. Your proposal assumes that the reader cares and is interested in the project—but it also assumes that they are skeptical and need adequate evidence that the project is worthwhile. I think this is where the challenge comes in because although the reader cares and is interested in the topic, there is still the need to captivate the readers attention and this can be difficult. I think any persuasive document, proposal or paper can be difficult, but if you do enough research and carefully write the document then it can be easy and very successful. Another important factor of a "proposal" is it's credibility. You want the reader to look at the document as professional and credible, proofreading is a great way to catch any errors and grammar problems before handing out the final proposal.

As you have stated, there are many different approaches to take when writing a persuasive proposal to a possible client. The most difficult part will probably be figuring out which approach to use with your client choice.
