White papers are designed to provide the reading with information on key issues that may affect them in the work place, another reason for white paper is to offer solutions to these work place problems that may become issues. These are a few of the things I discovered about what white papers real are in my reading for the issue. Now I understand the purpose of why it is we are doing this project. The reading also gave a good look at the proper format that the projects need to be in. Following the rules that the reading has listed for proper white paper format will be key to doing well in this project. As quoted in the reading “white papers look more like research papers written for first-year composition than do any other business and technical reports. They typically start with an academic-sounding title, information about the person who prepared the paper, an abstract/executive summary, and an introduction; then they discuss the approach that is no longer sufficient, the innovations that lead to some new answers, and the conclusions that the report supports.” This small paragraph gives a good look at what is expected of us in this project.
Until looking over the reading assignment I really had no idea what a white paper was, or what we were being expected to do in the project for that matter. The reading really cleared up the fact that we were addressing problems.
