The United States is one of the world’s few industrialized nations that does not guarantee healthcare. As a result many of our citizens live without it. We live in a nation where 15.6% of our populace does not have healthcare. In 2006 about 47 million people in the United States did not have healthcare.

Health care is provided by three different areas in our country. Health insurance is provided either by employer, purchased individually, or provided by government programs. Although these options are available the costs and regulations to receive health care are raising everyday. Of the three areas to receive healthcare 59.7% receive their coverage through their employer. Everyday this percentage is declining.

One possible reason for this is the rising costs for employer-paid health insurance. Since 2001 premiums for families have risen 78% while wages have risen 19% and inflation 17%. Because this project should be focused on a professional setting, my topic proposal is to address the rising costs of health care in the workplace.
