My white paper proposal is "The Problem With Domestic Automobiles," and will deal with the current dilemma U.S. automakers face when competing in a market dominated by foreign brands, breathing life back into their trademark, and the (mis)steps that lead them to this quagmire.

I'm a passionate, and informed automobile enthusiast. I'm not a fast-and-furious boy racer and more concerned with refinement, reliability, and styling than big spoilers and even bigger rims. As I mentioned inside my reading response, I thought I had exhausted my pool of topics I was knowledgeable over, but then it came to my attention that I've never written anything over cars - perhaps my number one hobby.

Right now the major automakers Ford, GM, Chevy, etc. are facing a real crisis. Newer foreign cars have created a pedigree of performance and reliability coupled with beautiful fresh styling they can't conquer in the face of financial troubles. How will they get over this? What do they stand to lose? Who are they facing?
