There is a problem in the automotive industry in that the current vehicles create environmental damage as well as that there are depleting resources. Both of these issues can be solved by alternate fuel vehicles. However, this presents a new problem - most consumers are hesitant to buy an alternative fuel vehicle because of lack of re-fueling stations, the loss of horsepower, and the expense-energy savings ratio. If the customers have the option of buying the old harmful vehicles that has everything they need, why buy a vehicle that is hard to refuel or costly with no driver benefit? I propose to the government that in order to combat these hesitations, we could 1) set up a program promoting alternative fuel station set up, 2) create a competition between the auto makers for gov't funding to create a vehicle that costs less while using less energy, and 3) pass laws mandating that current vehicles meet minimum efficiency standards so that both the consumer's options (alternate energy or internal combustion) are efficient and help eliminate the environmental impacts.

There is another Alternate Energy Topic. If you are interested in this topic, don't comment on this board, as communication has started on that one. I am joining with that group as it is the same topic, so come on over to join the group. If that group is full, and you still want to pursue this topic, feel free to take over my topic board, but first make sure that the other group is full. Thanks, Michael.

I think this is a pretty interesting topic and would be interested in working on it together with you. I don't know if you know this but recently Brazil has managed to successfully integrate ethanol as their main source of fuel. I think if include aspects of that we can have more proof that the solutions can actually work.
