Being so interested in the aviation field, I thought a good topic for a white paper would be one discussing aviation safety. There are MANY problems with the air traffic control system used to separate and track aircraft in the United States airspaces today, and with the number of travelers increasing every year, something has got to change. We are still using systems introduced in the 1970's, which in most other industries would be totally unacceptable. It is difficult to bring about change in the aviation world though, because many things impact funds available in this sector - government programs, events such as 9/11, economic factors, etc. It would be interesting to look more into this problem and try to come up with some solutions for making air travel more modern and safe.
