This past week has given me a lot of useful information for updating and improving my resume. I did not have a resume till last semester when I was in MGMT 301 and the information I received this week will help me tweak that resume to make it the job getting resume I need it to be. I especially enjoy reviewing the 36 resumes and picking out what I felt were the top 5 out of the group. This seemed very helpful to me because the 5 that I picked out were very similar to the ones almost everyone picked out. This showed me how quickly a person will look at your resume. I was able to see the little details that made an individual resume stand out to me. I personally felt that I preferred symmetrical and straightforward resumes the best. I didn’t like resumes that gave to much information because it seemed to me that it was simply too cluttered to get information off of easily. I also like resumes that had a clear and straightforward objective statement. The paper from the skeptical resume reader made it clear that a professional resume reader acts the same way as I do when they read resumes in large groups. I hope that I can use this information on how to write a better resume to help me in fixing my own resume. This information also comes at the perfect time for a management student like myself because our management career fair is coming up next week and I want my resume to be top notch so I will be able to get a internship for this summer.
