After I read the article Gareth's Tips on Sucks-Less Writing, I felt that I picked up a few good tips that will help me write better in this course and also in my future career. One piece of advice was not to be redundant. After I read some of my writing over again, I realized that I sometimes say the same thing twice without thinking about it. It helps if you are consciously thinking not to repeat yourself and to read your work out loud. That was another tip in the article that I started to practice. Another piece of advice that I liked was the suggestion to get rid of the clichés. Sometimes I throw a few into my writing not realizing how lame and overused they really are. One aspect of my writing that I would like to improve on is the first draft. Most of my writing combines my first draft with my final draft and leaves out the editing part. I wish to shed my old habits of procrastination and be able to write a first draft, edit it, edit it some more, and then turn in a final copy. I think I can drastically improve my writing if I would follow those steps.
