For the first project, I decided to apply to veterinary school. Seeing how this was a plan of mine ever since coming to Purdue, it only seemed logical to use the project for some practice. My resume and cover letter writing skills are not fantastic, so I'm hoping this project will help me in those areas. I can foresee complications when it comes to writing my cover letter. I have never been good about talking about myself in a positive way, at least not without sounding self-centered. I am hoping this class will help to fix that. The only slight problem that I have come across is considering veterinary school to be a job and not a step in continuing education. However, once I considered all the similarities, I see how similar the two really are. For a job and veterinary school, the positions are highly competitive with many qualified applicants applying for only a small amount of available positions. Both veterinary school and a job expect the applicants to have an intensive work history, leadership skills, and the ability to interact well with others.

Hey I don't mean to be negative about your project but I applied to vet school this fall and it is nothing like writing a resume. Most likely your application will be about 25 pages or so. This will be your "resume" and "cover letter". Also the application is all on-line and you just fill in the blanks with the words alloted to you. I'm sure the project won't be a problem but it probably won't help you a whole lot with the application process.
