This weeks reading was all about oral presentations, which makes sense because we spent all of this week presenting our final products for the service learning project. This PowerPoint presentation, even though it was just review, proved to be very helpful as I prepared for my speech this week. One thing that I had not thought about is how far I will need to stand from our client as I present the brochure to him. Standing too close could make him feel very uncomfortable, while standing too far away from him may seem impersonal or make him lose attention. I think that our group will probably present a little bit closer to our client than most of the other groups in our class because we have a very informal relationship with Mr. Erdmannsdorf. The rest of this reading just told us how to organize our presentation and asked several questions that we need to consider while preparing our speech. The next assignment that we had to read was the Oral Presentation Review sheet that would be used to grade our in class group speech. This was especially helpful because it showed us what Mr. Ghering would be looking for while he graded our presentation. This sheet assisted me when I created an outline of our speech; more specifically it showed me which sections I should include in the outline in order to get the best grade. The last assignments that we had to read for this week were the Project Assessment document and the Collaboration Evaluation document. These assignments just had several questions that we had to answer about our project in general and how well our group worked together.
