As the semester is coming to a close this was our last week of readings. There was not very much to read this week, as we are completing our final project and wrapping up the loose ends of this course. The final details and readings provided this week pertain to the oral presentation that each group must give based on their organization. Last week’s readings also focused on the main guidelines and tips for oral presentations, while this week the readings refreshed the main ideas of oral presentations. It focused on audience analysis, talk structure, and delivery. The most important idea to keep in mind with your audience is managing your distance and formality with your audience. The next idea about talk structure is one of the most important aspects, as this is how you convey your information. To convey your information most effectively to your audience you must follow a simple pattern of points and provide many supporting examples. The PWOnline offers many different suggestions on how to structure your presentation for the most effective results. A good logical process to consider following begins with the introduction, where you will discuss what you plan on talking about and who your audience will be. Next, you would forecast the main items you will discuss throughout your presentation. After that, you jump right into each of your points that you just previously forecasted. Finally, it is important to conclude and wrap up your presentation by summarizing all of your points and tying them together for an overall productive project. Lastly, after developing your talk structure it is important to deliver your presentation correctly by rehearsing ahead of time for a smooth presentation, without relying on notecards or any other support. The other readings and information provided this week pertain to the overall group and project assessment. On Wednesday, each group member is required to outline the overall details of the project and success of the group through the Project Assessment document and the Collaboration Evaluation. These two assessments will help break down the group’s work and success, while also focusing on the overall importance and planning of this project. After completing these documents, and using the tips from the oral presentation readings to deliver an outstanding presentation, this project and the course will be complete!!!
