This weeks reading related to types of presentations, mainly oral presentations and power points. Throughout my academic career, I have been making power points and doing class presentations. I realize that it really is an art and a matter of balancing practice and preparation with spontaneity, but I think that sometimes its simply just easier and feels better to merely summarize what you want to say and "wing it". For more complex presentations this obviously doesn't work very well, but generally I've had good luck and results with practicing the summary of what I want to say in my head or in an outline form and then explaining it how it comes to mind when I present. Occasionally this can cause rambling but I think that for more simple projects this is useful. For English 420, however, it is necessary to practice our presentations first. This is mainly due to the fact that our professional writing and white paper presentations are both more detailed and involved than most and go beyond simple research on a topic or common knowledge. My group has been practicing our presentation and I feel we will be more than successful
