The readings this week were from PWOnline, and talked about how to present in formal and informal settings. A lot of the information was already summarized in the PowerPoint about giving effective presentations that we talked about in class on Monday. I think it’s helpful that we will be presenting our client deliverables to the class before we actually give them to client, it will be like a practice run. Also, we can practice for it and make sure we’re discussing everything we needed to. The class presentation may be a little different than the presentation to the client though, because we already know there is a difference between what the class knows about soccer in the Lafayette area compared to what the client obviously knows. For this reason, we will probably have to plan to present things a little differently to each group, though still focus on the bigger things such as presenting in a laid back, semi-informal way, and dressing casually as we will when we present for the GLRSA. Our group has already discussed the fact that we shouldn’t be too formal when we actually give the presentation. After all, we are presenting to a soccer league, and business suits and dresses and heels would just be weird. I’m assuming that when we give the presentation to the client, it will be pretty interactive and they will be asking questions and making comments about the brochure. We have planned to also give them electronic copies of both the brochure and mass mailer, so we will also explain how to edit these documents for use in future seasons. The readings this week said a lot of things I already knew, and basically I’m not too nervous about presenting to the GLRSA board. I don’t think my team members are either, as we all feel pretty comfortable with the people we’ve been in contact with so far and the nature of their organization is laid back anyways.
