We have been planning our layout for the brochure. We are currently focusing on creating a 3-fold brochure with printing on both the front and back sides of the paper giving us six columns. We will have one column for an introduction to Von's Shops, four columns describing the four different sections of Von's shops: books, jewelry, music, and movies, and one column for a conclusion leaving the reader with a desire to check Von's Shops out. We are currently choosing a background style for the pamphlet and will finish drafting the content this weekend. We will spend next week interlacing the content with the design and then present our rough draft to our client near the end of next week.
--Client Meeting Review--
We started out the meeting by showing Mr. Erdmannsdorff our proposal. He read through our proposal and gathered a few questions for us that we were able to answer including why we had to drop some projects such as a website. We explained to him our time schedule and used our Gant chart to for more detail. He was excited to know that we have put so much time into planning out what we are doing so that he knows how far we are towards the final goal at all times.
We discussed that dates at which we would place deadlines for certain aspects of the project such as when we would have a rough draft of our brochure, a final draft of the brochure, and when we are meeting with the Purdue organization in charge of BGR to show them our brochure. As mentioned earlier, we impressed him by having our schedule planned far in advance. This way we are able to plan meeting times with Mr. Erdmannsdorff without interfering with his busy schedule including managing his store and taking care of his wife in the hospital.
Mr. Erdmannsdorff reacted well to our proposal. He knew in advance through more casual meetings what to expect from our group and we have not added or detracted much without his knowing prior to the forming meeting and proposal. He did notice that we dropped the idea of a website and asked us about our reasoning behind it. We explained that a well-done website would require more time than we have remaining in the semester as well as the fact that no one in our group has any significant experience with HTML or other on-line programming languages. He was understanding of these issues and did not seem to mind. He accepted our proposal and is looking forward to seeing the final product of our work.
For the remaining time in the semester we worked out deadlines for pieces of our total project. Currently, we are working on researching and analyzing his stores so we can identify most of the content to include in the pamphlet. We agreed to show him the rough draft of our document within a week of our formal meeting and then submit the final draft to him on Saturday April 19th. We will then present our final presentation to the client towards Friday April 25th which will include what work we have done as far as disseminating the advertisement.
Our 2nd deliverable (the first being the formal meeting we held on April 10th) will include the pamphlet we have created and information about how Boiler Gold Rush will accept the pamphlet. We will ask for his opinions on the brochure to ensure our factual accuracy and that we are presenting the correct atmosphere with our writing. Our 3rd deliverable will be revealing our final draft after promptly revising our original document. Finally, the 4th deliverable will be our presentation and will include the final draft as well as explaining how this document will be dispersed to Purdue students thereby increasing the consumer base of Von's Shops.
We feel our project is running smoothly and on schedule. We look forward to completing the project for Von's Shops and possible future ventures.
