This week we have been really successful on our service learning project. At the beginning of the week we delivered the proposal to our client. Our client accepted the proposal we wrote for him. This helped us give the go ahead on starting the rough draft of our brochure. We met on Tuesday, April 8th to brainstorm what we wanted in the brochure and how we wanted it to look. In class on Wednesday we discussed when we were going to meet again to work on the final draft. We decided to meet Friday around 3 o’clock at Hicks to work on our rough draft. During this meeting we finished everything expect for the pictures that we are going to put in the brochure. All group members contributed equally to the creation of the brochure. So far this project has been moving along great and as a group we feel it will continue to be that way.
Client Meeting Report:
1. Include a detailed discussion of your client meeting/proposal submission, including answers to the following:
a. What happened?
We told him our ideas for the project and he told us what type of document he needed, and they matched perfectly. He brought along some old, out of date pamphlets for us to look at. These also will help us decide what information to put into the new brochure. One brochure had all text and no pictures, which does not attract the readers’ eye.
b. What did you discuss?
We discussed creating a new brochure with more pictures and less text. We might even work on a new logo for the recycling department. He wants a brochure that is directed towards the student body. We also discussed how increasing student awareness would improve the amount of recycling. One last thing we discussed in our meeting was where the brochures are going to be located. This includes new student packets, the information stand in the Union, and brochure rack in Schleman Hall.
c. What reactions did the client have to your proposal?
We sent the proposal to our client on Monday, April 7. He only questioned an item in our introductory paragraph that makes reference to “improvements to the system”. His question was if this would be in the scope of informing and creating awareness of the brochure. We replied that by informing students of the recycling facilities available, they would recycle more and therefore improve the recycling system.
d. Was your proposal accepted?
Yes, our proposal was accepted by the client.
e. Was it accepted with revisions? What are they? What is your plan?
He did not suggest any revisions. We had discussed thoroughly the plans for the brochure. Therefore, when it came to writing the proposal, we knew exactly what the client was wanting.
f. If it wasn’t accepted, what are you planning?
Not applicable
2. Give a detailed explanation of the agreement (contract) you and your client came to (deliverables, timeline, etc.).
We plan on sending him a rough draft as soon as we have one. That way, he can give us comments and suggestions along the way. We told him we would have the final draft to him the same day we present it in class.
3. Questions that you have for me, your instructor and resource for the project.
We do not have any questions for you at this time.
