1. I am from Evansville, Indiana. It is a decent sized city on the southern tip of Indiana. Evansville does not have any major league sports teams, but it does have a minor league baseball team and an arena football team. Evansville is home to the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville.
2. I am a Senior in Genetic Biology.
3. I am going to IU Medical School in the Fall. I want to become a doctor, join the armed forces, and then pursue a political career. I will either be in jail or the governor of Indiana by the time I am 45.
4. I would like to get an A out of this course. New knowledge about writing will be a bonus.
5. I am incredibly good at drinking alcohol. I enjoy hustling people and challenging them to mass consumption contests, where I typically clean up shop. I am the two time World Heavyweight Champion of the Schooner Challenge hosted by Boiler Market.

1. I am from San Jose, California, 30 minutes south of San Francisco. It is the capital of Silicon Valley and hopefully where I will find a job, whether or not I can afford the housing is still up for debate.

3. I am currently applying to Law School with hopes to go anywhere I am accepted, def. somewhere in Indiana--IU, Valpo, or Notre Dame, but I applied to 15 schools.
4.I would like to get an A because I want to graduate with my remaining or higher GPA..and I would like to continue to grow in terms of the context to write and working in groups (which is the real world) and continue to grow as a writer in general.

1. I'm from Muncie, IN. Also known as Crazy Muncie. It's fairly similar to the Lafayette area, but with less to do.
2. I'm a senior in OLS, graduating in May (hopefully).
3. I'd like to make it through graduate school and get a job in higher education.
4. From this course, I'd like to better my writing skills, in particular for my resume.
5. Most of my hobbies have something to do with a frisbee, either disc golf or ultimate. I also love my job at the Riverside Skating Center because I am the main Zamboni driver.

1. I am from Brea, California. It is one of the smallest cities (40,000) in Orange County and is about 5 minutes from Disneyland, 20 minutes from the beach and 30 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. The weather is amazing, but the traffic is something I don't miss while at Purdue.
2. I am a sophomore and am planning on majoring in accounting.
3. I would like to go to USC for graduate school and then hopefully land a job somewhere in California.
4. I would like to improve my writing skills that I am going to need in the future. I also want to strengthen my resume before I go out searching for an internship/job.
5. I am a huge sports fan and try to watch Sportscenter every night before going to sleep. I'm a big fan of the Angels and Duke basketball.

1. I am from Lowell, Indiana, which is about an hour north of Purdue and an hour south of Chicago. It's a small town where everyone knows everyone so living in West Lafayette and attending Purdue has been a great change of pace.
2. I am a Junior majoring in Retail Management and minoring in OLS.
3. My ultimate goal is to becoming a Buyer/Seller for a high-end retailer. Most people think of retail management as managing a store, but that is not the case. I plan on working for corporate offices and not in-store. I am currently looking for an internship that I hope will offer a position once I graduate.
4. Of course I would like to get an A, but I also would like to better my professional writing skills.
5. Growing up I played softball for 11 years, which is my favorite sport to not only play, but watch as well. As far as hobbies, I would consider my favorite hobby to be shopping. Most people wouldn't consider that a hobby, but I do. It's fun, relaxing and enjoyable no matter what.

2. I am a Management major soon to have a minor in finance and I am a sophomore.

1.) I am from Claypool, Indiana. This is a very small town about 6 minutes south of Warsaw. It is a very sleepy old town with no more than a post office and a bar.
2.) I am a sophomore in Management. My minors are in Human Resources and International Relations.
3.) My ultimate career goal is to become a director of human resources for an orthopedics company. I would love to work at a place like Zimmer, inc.
4.) I would like to become a better situational writer in this class. At my current job, I sometimes have to tailor my writing to specific audiences, and it is difficult for me sometimes. Also, I would like to get an A in this class, and I would hope that this class will prepare me well for my future applications for jobs.
5.) I love music. I can play almost any instrument, except for piano, ironically. I have been writing and playing music since I was 12 years old, and I am always trying to learn new things. Also, I love everything that is St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Finally, I spend much of my time every week at work as a Pizza Hut manager. Free pizza anyone?

In terms of goals after I graduate I want to go to Japan and teach English for 2 years and then work for a Japanese company. 10 years from now I'd like to be either a manager or head of marketing for a Japanese company like Toyota or Nissan. In relation to this course, I'm mainly excited about learning how to write better resumes and sound more professional in my writing. 1. I am from Greenwood, Indiana, which is a suburb just south of Indianapolis. It's not overwhelmingly large, though we now have a Cheesecake Factory and ever-increasing traffic.
2. I am currently a junior majoring in Genetic Biology with a minor in dance.
3. My career goals are very much to be determined. Though all the paperwork shows I intend to pursue medical school, I'm not completely sure. Perhaps after finishing my undergraduate degree I'll attend Genetic Counseling school or enter the Peace Corps doing some sort of public health related project.
4. I'm interested in getting formal training in what I've been trying to pick up from the business professionals in my life -- and I would like to get an A and fulfill a degree requirement in the process.

1. I am from Lakewood, New York. I moved there about 4 years ago from Columbus, Indiana. There are many hills, unlike parts of Indiana, and it snows a lot during the winter. The winter season usually last from November to early April and 1 foot of snow in a day in not uncommon.
2. My course of study is Management and my minors are in OB/HR and Marketing. I am currently a Junior.
3. My career goals are to get a well paying job that I am happy with in the field of Marketing. A preferable job would be in the field of new product development.
4. I would like to get the knowledge and understanding of proper professional writing in the business world.
5. One personal thing about me is that I like to workout. Whether it's lifting weights, running, or just playing basketball, I like doing some sort of physical activity everyday.

1. I am from Plymouth, Michigan, which is a western suburb of Detroit. I've loved growing up there. My high school was actually a big campus with three separate high schools on it, (three separate football teams, school colors, etc) and everyone had classes in every building. In total there were about 6,000 students.
2. I am a sophomore in Aviation Management, with minors in OLS and Business
3. In Aviation Management, you can decided one of three specialties to pursue...airport management, airline management, or Air Traffic Control. I am leaning more toward airport management and Air Traffic Control and can't chose between them right now. My ideal life plan would be to work as an Air Traffic Controller for about 15 or 20 years, then get into the management side of work at the airport. I hope to work at a large, stressful airport, preferably Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, Detroit or Los Angeles.
4. Like many other students, I'd really like to get an A out of this class! English classes are not my favorite, though I do fairly decent in them, and this is the last one I'll ever have to take!
5. I like playing soccer and volleyball, and I play on the Purdue Women's Club Soccer Team. I also have three younger sisters, the youngest is 5, and I love being around my family and friends.

1. My name is Andrea Hilliker and I am from New Palestine, IN. It is about 30 minutes east of downtown Indianapolis. There is only one stop light and the only thing exciting in the town is the ice cream place called Frosty Boy, which is only open 9 months of the year.
2. I am a junior studying genetic biology.
3. I plan on being a genetic counselor.
4. I would like to get an A and have a better insight of what I am going to need to know when it comes to writing professionally.
5. One interesting thing about myself is that last summer, and hopefully again this summer, I got to work the Indy International Wine Competition where over 3000 wines from all over the world were judged.

1. I am from Romeo, Michigan, which is a suburb in north Detroit. I have lived in Metro Detroit my whole life and I love it there. I am only about 30 minutes from the United States/Canadian border.
2. I am a Sophmore in the School of Agricultural Economics studying sales and marketing.
3. I plan on graduating a semester longer than I actually would, and after that I would love to to move back to Michigan where I hopefully would have a job that involves sales or marketing. I eventually would like to own my own business after I get enough experience in the field.
4. In the past, I usually have had good success in english courses, and I expect to do very well in this one. I hope it helps me communicate more professionally with other people, which is a problem I have right now. I would just like to be able to come across professional in text as well in many other ways, all through taking this course.
5. Since I was about 13, I have been interested in flight and aviation. I went down to Florida for a few weeks in the summer of 2005 and got my student pilot's license. It was a defining moment in my life. Even though I didnt make a career of aviation, I still remain very interested in the field.

1. I am from a town just south of Indy. It's Greenwood. I went to Center Grove High School and about half of my school came to Purdue. It used to be a small town but it keeps growing and there are new buildings everytime I go home.
2. I am in Animal Sciences and I am a Junior.
3. I plan on attending vet school next year but if I don't get in I have another year to apply. After vet school I would like to take over a small veterinary clinic most likely with small animals.
4. With this course I would like to be able to keep up with the new etiquette of business writing in the real world. It also looks great on my vet application.
5. I love being outdoors. I go backpacking and white water rafting as much as I can. Splunking is also a favorite of mine but I haven't gone to very many caves.

I have been living in Clarendon Hills, a suburb about 20 minutes west of Chicago, since I was one year old. I was born in Waterloo, IA.
I am a sophomore majoring in Management and minoring in Finance and Management Information Systems.
My career goal is to love going to work everyday. I am thinking that I will work for a company that develops computer/video games.
I would like to learn to write a resume that gives the recruiter an effective description of who I am and why I want the position.
I love playing Starcraft, Magic: The Gathering, Adventure Quest, and any other nerdy game with my friends. I especially enjoy telling people how nerdy I am cause I'm also a really social person and could fool anyone into thinking that I am a typical frat boy who spends his weekends playing sports, working out, and drinking beer. Incidentally, I take great pride in eating healthy, running, and working out. I am also part of a fraternity, Zeta Psi, and am the only brother who likes My Chemical Romance (my favorite band). Sometimes I drink at parties, though I hate the taste of alcohol so I generally don't. If I'm having fun at a party, however, most people think I'm drunk because I'm so friendly. I love artistic designs on clothes so I switched from shopping at Abercrombie to the Nordstrom Rack. I am a little bit of a rebel in that I take pride in anything unique about myself and in other people. I am a very sensitive, compassionate person and I value integrity more than anything else in a person. I am usually good at understanding a person's character, unless that person happens to be a girl in which case I am horrible at it. I have two goals in life, the first is to have a job that is both fun and capable of supporting a family, and the second is to meet a girl who is perfect for me and steal her away from the world.

3. Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted to be a fighter pilot. I started pursuing this dream in high school by getting my private and commmercial pilot licenses, getting instrument rated, and racking up almost 400 hours of flight time. I will be joining the marine corps in a little over a year to further pursue my goal.

2. I am a senior in accounting and will be graduating this May.
3. I am currently looking for an accounting job. I will probably start as a staff accountant and work on my masters. After that, I plan to take the CPA exam, at which point I think that I would like work in the tax accounting field

5. I just started volunteering at the Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM) as a volunteer tax preparer for low and middle income families through the Internal Revenue Service's VITA/TCE program.

1. I am from Monticello, IN. It is about 30 minutes north of Lafayette. It is the same town that Indiana Beach is in and there are tourists everywhere during the summer. My small town turns into a crazy town when the summer season comes along.

Hello! My name is Abby Robinson and I was born and raised in the small town of Paoli, Indiana. Paoli is about 10,000-15,000 people strong and located 45 minutes directly south of Bloomington. (I by-passed IU because my family tradition states that Purdue is Indiana's REAL University.) If you have ever heard of Ski Paoli Peaks or the French Lick Hotel Resort and Casino those are both right down the road.
I am a Junior majoring in Youth, Adult and Family Services with a minor in Sociology.
I am thinking very seriously about going into Extension.
I would like to learn better writing techniques. I had always thought I was a good writer but last sememster one of my professors didn't think so, so I hope to work on that.
My hobbies include hunting and fishing, going to Florida to deep sea fish and hog hunt very often, spending time with family and friends and spend time working on our farm and at our family owned restaurant.

3. My career has been set out for me ever since I was a young child. Let me explain more. My parents, both graduates of Purdue, own and operate a high voltage maintenance company. I have been working there the past two summers and they hope that one day my brother and I will take it over. I am not sure if that is what I want to do yet, but it is a good option.
4. One of my dad's weaknesses and my mom's strengths is writing. Being that they own their own business they write many business letters and I have seen how important it is to have good writing skills as a quality. So, I would like to betting my writing in every aspect possible.
5. My favorite thing to do is to be on the lake, and I enjoy wakeboarding more than anything. When it is winter I love to go snowboarding.

1. I am from Bloomington, IL. It is a city that, combined with the sister city, Normal, has a population of about 125,000 people. It is mainly known for being the birthplace of State Farm Insurance, Beer Nuts, Stake 'N Shake, Mitsubishi North America, and Illinois State University.
2. I am a Junior in Building Construction Management.
3. My career goals are to intern with DPR Construction (a top 15 Commercial General Contractor) until I graduate, when I will then become a full time employee in San Diego, CA. I have yet to figure out if I want to go into Estimating, Project Management, or be a Construction Superintendent.
4. I guess I really hope to learn how to complete the formal application process. So far, I have gotten all my internships/jobs by either knowing the owners of the company or by signing up through the BCM dept. for an interview for an internship. I think it would be useful to know how to get a job with out either knowing people or having the University set it up for you.
5. I love woodworking and building things. I love to design and build all sorts of projects from furniture to Guitars (so far only electric - I want to build an acoustic soon).

1. I am from Niles, Illinois. I usually say Chicago because I literally live on the border of northern Chicago. If you know where O'Hare Airport is then you can get to my house very easy.

4. I would really like to learn the differences in emails. When I read email conversations at work they aren't very formal.
5. I enjoy motorcycle riding. I have a 1998 Harley Davidson. During the summer I do a lot of riding. Its very relaxing.

I literally live right behind a Marsh supterstore and have to admit that the back of the building is where all the semi's come and unload, and sometimes it gets really loud.

1. I am originally from Irvine, California. Irvine is located within Orange County and has a population of about 202,000 people living within its 65 miles. The city was incorporated in 1971 and is relatively modern in its design and architecture. Irvine is bordered by a number of cities; however the ones that are more commonly known are Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.
2. I am currently a sophomore in the Krannert School of Management, and I am planning to major in accounting and management. Additionally I am planning to minor in finance and management information systems.
3. My first career goal is to earn my CPA license. After obtaining my CPA license I want to work in either investment banking or financial audit. In the long run I want to have my own firm conducting forensic accounting investigations in search of fraud and organized financial crimes.

1. I am originally from Irvine, California. Irvine is located within Orange County and has a population of about 202,000 people living within its 65 miles. The city was incorporated in 1971 and is relatively modern in its design and architecture. Irvine is bordered by a number of cities; however the ones that are more commonly known are Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.
2. I am currently a sophomore in the Krannert School of Management, and I am planning to major in accounting and management. Additionally I am planning to minor in finance and management information systems.
3. My first career goal is to earn my CPA license. After obtaining my CPA license I want to work in either investment banking or financial audit. In the long run I want to have my own firm conducting forensic accounting investigations in search of fraud and organized financial crimes.
