This Wednesday we met with our client for the third project. Janet Shepherd is the new D.A.R.E. officer for West Lafayette and was very enthusiastic to work with us. She was also excited about the white paper we had created regarding D.A.R.E. Together it was decided that we will create four tri-fold brochures to be used to assist parents in speaking with their children about tobacco, drug and alcohol use. The first will include information about the D.A.R.E. program and how to contact the D.A.R.E. officer with questions regarding the program. It will also include facts and how to initate conversation with your child about the topics. It also informs parents that there will be additional parent material and how to use it. The following three will individually address each of the substances and conversation starting techniques that parents can use. These materials should be sent to parents when the topics are covered to reinforce the learning of the child by further engaging in conversation where a child may feel more secure to ask questions. We are all working on creating the proposal and gantt chart over the weekend.
