This week’s readings have been really helpful while working on the third project. The online technical writing: proposals was a great help when my group and I started to work on the proposal due Monday. There was a section on common sections of proposals which we looked at for a reference when we were creating our proposal. It was really helpful because it went into detail for each part of the sections. One thing that is required for the proposal is a Gantt chart. I have heard of this kind of chart before but did not know how to go about making one. The next thing we had to read were the directions of how to make a Gantt chart. This was great because I didn’t even know where to begin and how to make one. The last thing we had to read about was about social and cultural issues. Most of what this had to do with was ethics. I did not enjoy this reading because I didn’t see what it had to do with the project we are working on. Another thing that we have done is discussed the Luntz rules for writing. I think this is the most important reading out of all of them because we could use what we have learned from it. Although the article was long, the article was really interesting to read. It described the 10 rules of effective writing. These are simplicity, brevity, credibility, consistency, novelty, sound and texture, speak aspirationally, visualize, ask a question, and provide context and explain relevance. I think these rules will be helpful when creating the brochure for my group's project. Our client that we are working with is in need of a document that speaks to students. I think using these rules will help my group and I accomplish this.
