On Monday, we made our first contact with our number one choice for a client. This person is Joel Zarate, the recycling coordinator here at Purdue. He replied to our email extremely fast, and we set up a meeting with him for Wednesday, April 2 at 12:30 at Starbucks in the Union. We had come prepared with questions to ask him and ideas we had for the project. Our idea was creating a brochure that would help educate students about the recycling program here at Purdue. Mr. Zarate had the same idea. He also would like us to try and come up with a logo that will spark students' interest in recycling. He brought with him some old brochures and complained about them being too text heavy. We plan on creating a document with text, but also with more images. My group feels the meeting went well and think future meetings will go the same way. This first meeting lasted about 30 minutes.
After the meeting, our group went to the DLC and started working on the proposal. We completed the introduction, the project idea, and benefits of doing the project. On Thursday, April 3, we met to finish the proposal, which we did. All group members contributed equally to the creation of the proposal. We plan on having Mr. Ghering review it in class on Friday, giving us time to correct it for the final draft due on Monday, April 7. As soon as we have our proposal approved, we will deliver to the client so we can start as soon as possible on creating the brochure. Most of our correspondance with the client will take place in the form of email, as he said that is the best way to contact him. For next week, we will do research on what information we would like to include in the brochure. By the end of the week, we hope to have a rough draft started. The project is moving along great so far, and as a group we feel that trend will continue.
