This week we read and learned about proposals before submitting our proposal for review on Friday. I learned from reading some of the PW Online that the proposals are supposed to be persuasive. I learned that we need to convince someone that we want/need whatever it is that we are asking for. Credibility would play a large role in this, because if the reader feels in any way the he or she can't trust you for some reason, then your proposal is sure to fail. Therefore, you need to build up your credibility, which can be done by researching well and being honest. Next, I read about the different types of proposals. I learned that a solicited proposal deals with companies that know they need something, so it isn't difficult to persuade that company that they need your help. In an unsolicited proposal, it is more difficult. The company does not recognize the need for help, and therefore one will have to do much more research in order to be able to persuade the company that they need your help. Informal proposals are extremely simple, and they can be as small as one sentence. However, formal proposals are usually much loner and include very much research and reasoning. These articles helped our group to shape and write our memo for class on Friday.
