For this week we have a few helpful and informative readings to look over for our 3rd project. Proposals: Content and Organization is helpful because it describes exactly what your proposal should contain. According to the article: The two main rules for organizing information in a proposal are these: (1) Do what the audience requests and/or expects. And (2) Use the main body of the proposal to make the argument for your project, and put supporting details in an appendix. You must provide data in support of your arguments. Visuals are a high-impact way to include evidence in your proposal. The example proposal: Employee Wellness Program is a great reference when putting together our proposal because it shows exactly what an existing proposal looks like. The Social and Cultural Issues readings about Ethics and Professional Communication basically informs the reader about purpose of professional writing and the impact it may or does have on the reader. I found the following to be very important: You have to know and understand and appreciate your audiences. If you are to write ethically, you have to know who your audiences are and what they need. Writing is first and foremost a people skill. I think that is where a lot of proposals and professional writings go wrong. The basic principles of ethics are: Respect and care for others or in other words treat others the way you want to be treated. Do good; do no harm. Your writing should beneficial or do good for someone. Understand your goals. More importantly know what it is that you want to accomplish.

I also agree that the organization of the proposal is very crucial. Without the proposal being organized correctly, it will be quite difficult for your client to follow along with your plans.

In regards to the ethics article, I don't particular agree that all writing should be for the advancement and good will of others.

I agree that our writing should be to better man kind and should be written in respect to our audience. If you the writer does not understand the audience he might as well not write the paper because written communication is about getting a message across the best you can. If the writer does not know the audience then he cannot get the message across effectively.
