This week we had three reading assignments all about how to create a proposal for our third project. First, we had to read a few sections about proposals in PWOnline. These sections covered subjects including rhetoric, context, content, and organization of proposals, as well as a sample proposal. This reading explains that a proposal is meant to be a persuasive document. It needs to convince your audience that there is a significant issue that needs to be addressed and that our group has a viable solution. Also, we will have to build up our credibility in order to prove to our audience that we are qualified to handle this project. The part that I found most helpful was the section on content and organization. This will be very helpful as a guideline when we begin creating our formal proposal. It states that there is not a single way of setting up the document, but it gives a good general outline of how it should be formed and what sections should be included. The next reading assignment was a sample student proposal. This example really helped me understand what our proposal will look like for this project. I really liked the work schedule section in this sample. It will be very important to create a schedule for our company and make sure that we complete everything on time. It also makes good use of headings to direct the audience to the main sections within the proposal. Our last reading assignment was a PowerPoint on the rhetoric of proposals. This reading was fairly similar to the assignment in PWOnline. It mentions that it should be persuasive and it talks about the audience and how you need to create credibility.
