This week was the first week of project three, the client based service learning project. My team from the white paper decided to stay together to work on the last project, which makes it easier to get things started. Also, we worked really well together on the white paper and already know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and are comfortable working together. Since we already have all of the “getting to know each other” of group formation out of the way, we were able to get right into working on the project. We talked in class on Monday and came up with some ideas for clients for the project, but nothing was finalized until we met on Tuesday night. We decided to meet at 8pm in the room we have class in, SC183, because it was convenient for everyone. We were able to get working right away and got the memo written up in about an hour. We already had two ideas for possible clients, and quickly came up with a third one to write about. The three possible clients we came up with are the Greater Lafayette Recreational Soccer Association, the Blood Bank, and the Clinton County Humane Society. Everyone was helpful in writing the memo. I did most of the typing, but it was easy to do since Eric had already typed up a rough outline memo for me to work on. Cedric provided some pretty good ideas and Filip did a lot of looking around on the internet. After we got the memo all typed up, we had a good idea of where we were going with the project, but have recently gotten a little delayed since class was cancelled Wednesday. I know we need to up the communication this weekend so we can get started and figure out what everyone’s responsibilities for this project are. I have a feeling that everything will be coming at us pretty quickly, as it’s not much longer until this school year is over! There were not a lot of lessons on collaboration or communication this week, mostly due to the fact that we were only in class on Monday and that day was all about getting familiar with the project and getting into groups.
