As a group, we have decided to continue our topic on Purdue’s recycling inefficiencies. This topic is already very familiar to us, and we are comfortable working together. This week of the project has been kind of slow due to the class cancelations, so we would estimate our current project status is still in the drafting stage. However, because we have much of the needed information regarding recycling at Purdue, we will begin speaking with the representatives at the Purdue Grounds Department in the near future (Week 12). Luckily, we have already communicated and established good will with this representative. This lends us to believe there will not be any hitches during the negotiation period. Since this project is going to start moving at a more fast pace next week we will be meeting a lot more than we have this past week.

So far, the individual contributions of the each member of the group have been small if we exclude the work completed during the white paper. Not counting for the white paper, our group has basically made known their personal goals and aspirations for this project, and we have obviously completed the project memo that was due on Wednesday. On an individual level, each person’s work has been fairly equitable (or will receive some credit if he or she has done more work than other members). To be more specific, Andrea essentially composed the project memo and Katie and Pat reviewed and edited her work before it was submitted. Today, Katie and Pat will complete the Project Log that is due on Friday. We each have contributed to what needs to be included in the Project Logs. Since there hasn’t been too much work yet we have all put in our thoughts with the work so far.

We have had a hard time trying to meet since we all have exams and other group meetings but we are trying our best. One way we are facing this problem is communicating by e-mail. We have completely used our Purdue email accounts to communicate and send these documents for review and revision to each other instead of physically meeting. This has freed up some time during the weeknights that our group needed to have for exam studying, but not meeting didn’t reduce the line of communication that everyone has with each member of the group. We probably sent a total of eight to ten emails this week discussing the work that has been completed or needs to be completed. In the end we have been able to get all the work done in time so far.

Next week, we plan to meet with the Purdue recycling coordinator, Joel Zarate, to explain our issues with the recycling program as well as our solutions to solve these problems. Hopefully he can help us come up with something that he needs to be written by our group.
