Reading Response 14

I have never felt good about giving a presentation. I usually get a beautiful red rash on my chest and neck that is hard to miss. So, I can't say that I look forward to giving our class presentation. However, I care about our chosen task and the materials we are creating. I look forward to meeting with our client and presenting her with useful brochures that will assist her in the D.A.R.E. program.

Team #9 Work Blog: Week 14

This week went way too fast. All too soon we will have completed our brochures and be presenting to the class and to our client. This week we have focused on creating our brochures. Since we are creating parent materials for the West Lafayette D.A.R.E. program, it has minimized our research time. However, we decided that we needed to create four brochures to fully address parent participation. Each of our team members has been working on creating a brochure. Michael is doing an introduction brochure that talks about parent involvement and what to expect now that your child is taking D.A.R.E.

Reading Response Week 13 Plagiarism

This weeks reading response was very important and necessary. Although I am in courses with individuals who are graduating in just a few short weeks, I still see many people cut and paste material they find. I am floored to see individuals who aren't just careless about citation but individuals who could "CARE LESS". I am shocked by the unethical choices that they fail to see as critical.

Reading Response week 12

This weeks reading though length and difficult to see, was very useful. It provided several details that are necessary to consider when creating proposals. Although it reinforced the idea that it's important to be brief it also explained how being simple really works. I had never really given thought to all the slogans used today and their incorrect usage but it really drove the point home.

Team #9 Work blog Week 12

This Wednesday we met with our client for the third project. Janet Shepherd is the new D.A.R.E. officer for West Lafayette and was very enthusiastic to work with us. She was also excited about the white paper we had created regarding D.A.R.E. Together it was decided that we will create four tri-fold brochures to be used to assist parents in speaking with their children about tobacco, drug and alcohol use. The first will include information about the D.A.R.E. program and how to contact the D.A.R.E. officer with questions regarding the program.

Reading Response Week 11

This weeks reading assisted in creating our memo. It was helpful to have direction in recognizing how it need to be structured. It also made it easier for us to divide up the work of creating the memo and presenting our ideas in a collective and thoughtful manner.

Reading Response 10

Since we only needed to look at our Project 3 guidelines this week and the client criteria, I was happy. Given the opportunity to be the last team to present our material was good and bad. There was probably so unnecessary stress by dragging out the date.

Possible clients

Our group has decided to remain together for our third project. Of course we want to minimize the research time so that we can focus more on producing quality materials for a client. The only way this can be done effectively is to tie in our second project. We can honestly say that we have conducted a through amount of background research on D.A.R.E. so it would be best if we could follow up with this topic.

Reading Response 9

It was a real joy to not have any reading due this week. Given the fact that many classes gave midterm exams this week and that many projects were due, one less thing to do was ideal.

Luckily we did not have any big fixes. A majority of my time was spent focusing on the peer review of other groups white paper projects. I am happy this is near the end of project 2 and even happier that we will roll this into project 3. Having the background knowledge of the DARE program will definitely assist us in working with our next project.

We are finished? I don't know? What if we add one more comment? What if we find a new picture to replace Walt? What if we add a graph? Can it really be over?

After last weeks 2am with my new best friend Michael I had began to think that this was only the beginning. I can honestly say I have learned so much from this class. Needless to say, I wish to thank Michael for his willingness to argue with me and to DARE to create a smokin' design.

Our group is to meet tomorrow during our regular class time to discuss our presentation.
