Flyers and Brochures

We reviewed the flyers and brochures for the final presentations this week. It was very helpful when going over these guidlines because our group decided on making a flyer and a brochure for Purdue Innovations, which was the easiest way of advertising. In a way it helped us decide on what template we were going to use because we did not want to get too carried away with a lot of information on one flyer. We wanted it to flow and have information, we just did not want it to be too overwhelming.

Presentations

Well, this week has come to a hault. The only thing we have read about is presentations and how each group is going to present. It was interesting to see the different ideas of advertising. I really enjoyed the business letters today and how they were going to send out a template for the group to continue to use in the future. It makes the sponsorship that much more important with a personalized thank you letter. I also really enjoyed the brochures that everyone did, because they all had a lot of good information and designs to them.

Readings for Week 11!!!!!!

This week has been a slow start of four more weeks of school and two finals. We have started our final project, the service learning project, as well as done some reading. The reading for this week was about how to write a memo and what the memo should contain. After reading about the memos, I really understood what we were going to be doing for this project. We had to make sure and follow the guidlines for the memo in order to continue with the project. The other readings were about the proposals that we went through in class.

Project Three: The Start for Group 13!

So far we have decided as a group to keep it as John, Justin and I. We did a great job of working together as a group for our white paper and we feel that we can do a good job of completing this service learning project. We have just completed the memo on Tuesday night. We actually discussed who we were going to target as our three main groups, and how we were going to do that on Monday during class time and John decided to put our ideas together into the memo.

Ideas for Project #3!

So, the group I was in for the white paper project has decided to stay together and finish out the semeseter with a great project. This project is going to be interesting and maybe a little time consuming because we will have to contact the companies and continually meet until our project is finished.

Reading...

So, this week has went by way too quickly. I think that instead of everything being due before spring break this year, they are cramming it in this week and next. The readings that we had to do for this week were basically the third project. The client-based project looks like a lot of fun. I'm sure that it will be interesting to actually have contact with a company and create a project then present it to them. I believe that the group from our white paper project is going to stick together with the last project because we work so well together.

Peer Reviews

Well, this week has been short but sweet and there really hasnt been any reading to do. As far as the reading that we accomplished in class for the peer reviews, they were very interesting. I think that it was really helpful how we had to fill out the peer review sheet because then we could use the sheet as a reference to go back and change the things that needed to be changed. Some of the critiques that we received came off a little rude.

Progress...

Well, I am glad to say that we have finally completed the white paper. On Wednesday night we met at 8:00pm in the Hicks library to work on the last minute touch ups. John and I were there for about an hour and a half and the only thing that we got accomplished was formatting the paper. This was probably the hardest part. It was really frustrating trying to figure out why the page numbers went from 1-8 then back to 2. So, needless to say we do not have page numbers on our paper. Justin came about 930 because he had to watch a movie from another class.

Reading...

Well, this week hasn't really consisted of much reading, so there really was not that much for us to do. Going to the library and learning about publisher and adobe photoshop was very interesting and helpful. Although the teacher went over more photoshop ideas than publisher, it was still helpful. The powerpoint on presentation tips was helpful in getting ready for the final presentation. The white paper with comments was also helpful when reading it because we knew what to look for and how to give tips to other groups.

Progress...

Overall, the white paper has been put together and works have been cited. We had to put the white paper into design format and that was probably the hardest part because there are so many templates that we could go off of, but we wanted something unique that fits our group style. After sending out emails and text messages, we have not been able to get a hold of one of our group members. This person was here for the first meeting during class, but we have not been able to reach them ever since. Unfortunately we had to kick them out of our group.
