Week 4, Discussion 1

One component of the job search process that we won't be able to cover in this class is the interview process. Typically, you won't land a job based on your resume alone; your resume is meant to get you a call for an interview. I'd like us to consider the following as the context and purpose of our rhetorical situation: your documents are going to be read among dozens, perhaps even hundreds of others. Your documents are also not being used to land you a job; they're being used to get you to the next stage of application.

For our first (optional) discussion, I'd like to hear your thoughts on taking an online writing course. What are your expectations? Have you ever taken a course like this before? What do you think you'll miss by not being in a traditional classroom, if anything? Do you have any reservations or concerns?
