Technical Marketing Project: peer review assignments
Posted April 16th, 2008 by TracyC
Here are the assignments for today's peer review session:
- Dell laptop (Group 2) and iPhone (Group 5)
- Myka (Group 4) and SmartBoard (Group 6)
- Refrigerator (Group 1), Aerogarden (Group 3), and GEnx engine (Group 7)
NOTE: Because there's an odd number of groups, I've had to place three groups together for peer review. I would suggest that the Aerogarden group review the Refrigerator group's document, that the Refrigerator group review the GEnx group's document, and that the GEnx group review the Aerogarden document.
When reviewing a group's technical marketing document, please give consideration to each of the following items:
- Overall presentation of product and manufacturer: Professional in appearance? Convincing? Ethically-presented?
- Communication of target audience
- Prose: marketing-style presentation
- Prose: presentation of technically-oriented information
- Prose: suitability of combination of marketing-style presentation and technically-oriented information for this product, this target audience, and this document (brochure, flyer, booklet, postcard, etc.)
- Prose/document design: volume of information presented shouldn't be too cluttered or too sparse
- Document design: document effectively employs contrast of items that are supposed to be different, repetition of items that are supposed to be consistent, alignment to communicate hierarchy of information, and proximity for items that go together
- Document design: effective selection and placement of images -- and appropriate text/image ratio (not 50/50, and not greater than 85/15 in favor of image or text)
- Document design: layout and design should be attractive, enhance text flow, and enhance presentation of images
