Week 13 Reading Response

I decided to use Adobe Photoshop to edit a picture with layers since I have never used layers before in Photoshop. This new layer is to be blended with the existing picture. I figure out how to do it by just playing around with the controls. It took awhile, but I eventually got it to do what I wanted. Another program that I could have used is Microsoft Paint since I am familiar with it, but I don’t think it could do what I wanted. My decision is done because of my little knowledge of other programs and the capabilities they might have. The better option would have been for me to have found a tutorial as opposed to trial and error despite the fact that it worked and I now know more about Photoshop. I don’t think that this difficulty is a misinterpretation of the benefits advertised. New users to Photoshop will have problems using it, but the program is good at helping you when, and if, you need it. There are also many documents that can help to guide the user to use Photoshop.

It's good to know that there is at least one program out there that has decent help.  It seems like nowadays that the help menus, tutorial and other documents if you get any with the product, aren't helpful at all and take forever to use and get you more frustrated with the software.  I think you are right though, when you play around with software you're more likely to figure out how to do more with it than just specifically what you wanted.

I Agree

I agree that it is so hard to learn to do new things and to learn new software. Everything is so intricate you almost need to take a class on it to really be able to function in the program. Of course that isn’t really an option, so playing around with the software is the best option, even if it is the slowest.
