Rhetorical and Document Design Issues

The sample document that I chose to focus on was the Rotary Kiln Combustion Systems document. The format of the document is an electronic document that can be seen online or printed off. Even though I am not personally interested in this product, or those like it, I enjoyed the document and perceived it very well since it was easy to read. The information was presented in a way that even someone with my limited knowledge of this area could understand. They did this with their design and the writing style. The document was very colorful, with colors pleasing to the eye, and the headings were bold and easy to find. The subheadings allow for more advanced readers to skip sections they do not need to focus on. The paragraphs are short and to the point which is very good since many people would get board and stop paying attention to the information that is given. I think it was a great help to have images to visualize the product since there are many images of the product in this document. The rhetorical design details enhanced the document since most of its readers will find it appealing. This appeal will make the reader want to purchase the product. The first page of the booklet has the name of the company, the name of the product, and then a catchy slogan, “…customer service and quality,” that gives the reader a picture of the goal the document is trying to convey. This is an excellent start to the document rhetorically. The document wanted the reader to see multiple aspects of the product by discussing the flexibility, alternative fuel capacity, technical leadership and accessories. This is presented in such as way that the creator of this document focused on rhetorical and document design. This is overall a good technical document.
