Policy Analysis & Example In-Class

By the end of class today (April 4 or Monday at beginning of class) analyze the policy example found on the calendar. Since this document is quite large--as most policy manuals are--restrict your analysis to sections 1.1-1.5 & 53.1-53.1.6. Look for the following aspects of manuals (hint, I would suggest double-checking Pwonline):

1. Completeness: Does the policy cover the issue thoroughly?
2. Design: Is the document readable? Why or Why not (use examples)?
3. Ethics: Is the policy fair and reasoned towards all parties that might use Library resources?

Brochure Analysis Due Weds. 2 (Remember to Bring Examples)

Follow a similar procedure as the instruction manuanl analysis (one page, bulleted list). When analyzing your document, use the following guidelines (attached below).

Service Learning Project Ideas

Please respond to this post by the end of the day, even if you don't have idea (simply put no idea). What I am looking for is a possible client for the service learning so I can assign your class groups on Tuesday.

Editing Assignment

For Weds, run this through a level of editing & design principles. Create a bulleted list of the errors you will find on a separate sheet. Or, if you would like the practice, you can use MS Office Track Changes

Annotated Bibliography Update

Dear Class:

Let’s still plan on having the Annotated Bibs Drafts due this Friday. Remember these are not complete documents, so do the best you can. I would suggest trying to get as much done as possible, though. Updates to the overall White Paper project will be forthcoming.

More White Paper Examples

Examples of WPS.

Extra Credit Opportunity

Offer a well-written 2 page critique of the Global Warming White Paper (posted below). Use a combination of writings in the Coursepak and PWonline to help with your analysis. Is the WP effective? If so, why? If not, why did it fail? Make sure you comment using direct examples from the WP and course readings.

Final Due Date, March 17th at beginning of class.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) currently is the rule-making body and enforcer of the common aeronautical industry. In April of 2007, the FAA released a document (FAR 437) on aerospace recreation travel. In this document, they give us their regulations of this future market including, who, where, and how people travel to space while on a commercial flight.
