Supersize Me
Supersize me is a documentary about a guy who only eats McDonalds for thirty days. He is in perfect health and goes to the doctor throughout the documentary to insure his health is alright. It is amazing on how fat the United States is. One in four Americans is over weight. McDonalds makes up forty three percent of the fast food market in America.
Two teenage girls filed lawsuits against McDonalds because they claim that the restaurant made them fat and unhealthy. One girl was fourteen years old, four feet ten inches tall, and weighing in at an amazing one hundred and seventy pounds. The other girl was nineteen years old, standing five feet six inches tall, and tipping the scales at an amazing two hundred and seventy pounds. I am nineteen years old, five feet ten inches tall and weigh one hundred and seventy five pounds. I do not heat very healthy and it’s not uncommon for me to eat two Big Mac sandwiches at one sitting. These two girls had to be eating McDonald’s food non stop, and not exercising at all. I do not see how it is possible for someone to sue McDonalds when those kids were the only ones making them eat it. It is not possible to sue a cow if a person eats too much cow fat and it makes you terribly over weight, so it should not be possible to sue McDonalds for making someone fat when it is the person’s fault that are eating it so often.
McDonalds alone has over thirty thousand restaurants. These dining facilities operate in over one hundred countries on six continents. McDonalds feed over forty six million people world wide every day. This is an outrageous number, this is a big reason the world is getting fatter by the day. This is more than the entire population in the country of Spain. McDonalds is everywhere imaginable, they are even in some hospitals.
Morgan Spurlock, the creator and eater of the thirty day diet, goes through a life changing experiment that nearly kills him. His cholesterol and blood pressure go through the roof. His doctor tells him he has to stop or there will be serious complications with his health. Morgan gets a second opinion, which tells him the exact same thing. He decides to carry on with the experiment and sometimes pukes when he finishes the meal because his stomach cannot handle the amount of food and the amount of grease for that matter. His girlfriend who is a dietician and a vegetarian begs him to stop because of what he is doing to his body but he still carries on. She draws up a diet plan to slowly get him off the McDonalds when the thirty days are up so he does not have severe health complications from going straight off the diet. He finishes the thirty days and is in terrible shape, along with terrible health. This goes to show how unbelievably bad McDonald’s food is for the body. Supersize is no longer an option on the McDonalds menu.
