This movie depicts the events of: September 11th, 2001, the events leading up to it, and the effects it had. Michael Moore, the creator, “uncovers” connections between President George W. Bush and the Bin Laden family. Homeland security flaws are exploited and police officers tell what happens when their budgets get cut.
Two Oregon state troopers were interviewed about their duties after the budget cutback by President Bush, and their stories were not very appealing. One trooper said that he has to patrol suck a large area by himself that he only gets to drive the fifty mile highway along the cost in his district once or twice a week. The other trooper stated that he has to come into work on his day off to finish up paper work because there is no one else to do it, and on three days of the week there are certain districts that do not get covered. The state police office is not open on a regular basis because of the lack of manpower able to be staffed on part of the budget cut. There is a payphone outside the door to call the switchboard operator, but it only works half of the time. Homeland security was not tightened down on the coast as promised or in the air for that matter. Richard Reid, the shoe bomber, was stopped from lighting his shoe bomb and blowing up a plane over the ocean a few weeks after the September 11th attacks. Then a few months later when this movie was being filmed you were still allowed to take two butane lighters and four books of matches on the plane when it was released that if Richard Reid had a butane lighter the plane would have went down.
President Bust flew twenty six members of the Bin Laden family out of the country within days after the 9/11 attacks, when Osama Bin Laden claimed and was verified as the man in charge of the entire outcome. President Bush’s former oil company he started before he became President of the United States was backed by non other than the Saudi Bin Laden Group; the second largest firm in Saudi Arabia. His father also formerly held a high ranking job with a merging company of the Saudi Bin Laden Group. The Washington Post also reported that President George W. Bush was on vacation forty two percent of the time in his first eight months in office. These were the eight months leading up to September 11th.
President Bush claims he is a “war president” and that is exactly what is needed. He then states that he has not been following Osama Bin Laden and that he is not too worried about him when he is the man responsible for murdering almost four thousand people in the World Trade Center towers. He notes that the war on terror is bigger than one person, which it is, but it would sure help to take out the man on top.
